Projects and settings

A project holds one dataset: its documents and the settings they are cleaned with. Keep one project per dataset.

Your projects

Projects, in the menu, lists your projects. Each card shows the project's purpose, how many files are ready, and “Settings changed” when some files were cleaned with older settings.

Open takes you to the step that needs you next: Import for a new project, Clean when files are waiting, Review once everything is cleaned.

Start a project

1. On Projects, press New project.

2. Type a name.

3. To start from other settings, press Change and choose a purpose or a saved recipe.

4. Press Create project. The project opens on Import.

For documents going into an AI chatbot or search index, choose the RAG / Retrieval Corpus purpose. Every purpose is described in Cleaning settings.

Rename and archive

• Rename changes a project's name and its optional description.
• Archive hides a project without deleting anything. An archived project cannot be opened.
• Tick Show archived to list archived projects, and press Unarchive to bring one back.

Projects are archived, not deleted. To remove documents, delete their files on the Import step.

Each project's settings

Each project has its own settings, so the same file can be cleaned differently in two projects. How to change them is in Preview and clean.

The one setting shared by all projects is Appearance, under This computer: System, Light or Dark.

Recipes

A recipe is a project's settings saved under a name, so other projects can use them. Recipes are in Settings, under Recipes.

1. Save the project's settings. A recipe is made from saved settings only.

2. Press Save these settings as a recipe.

3. Give it a name and press Save recipe.

Apply

Replaces the project's settings with the recipe's, after asking. The old settings stay in History.

Export and import

Export writes a recipe to a .json file. Import a recipe file reads one back, on this computer or another.

Delete

Removes the recipe. Projects started from it keep their settings.

Saving, renaming, importing and applying recipes need Pro or the 14-day trial. Seeing, exporting and deleting your recipes always work.

Settings history

History, in Settings, keeps every saved version of a project's settings, newest first, with what changed in each.

1. Press Put back beside an earlier version.

2. Confirm.

3. Clean the files again if you want the files already cleaned to use it.

The settings you replaced stay in History, so you can switch back.
